Club Rides – Sunday 12th May
There are 4 designated rides leaving Maindy this Sunday but as usual they are all subject to weather conditions and numbers of riders.
There will be no Fast group 1 due to racing.
Tim Rich will lead the Faster Middle group 2 from Maindy- Pontypridd- Merthyr Vale- Merthyr- Nant Ddu- Penderyn- Rhigos- Treorchy- Porth- Pontypridd- Taffs Well- Maindy. This ride is 72 miles and has 1 climb and a few other lumps. There will be a coffee stop in Treorchy. This will be a fairly quick ride and the pace is likely to increase after the coffee stop.
Martyn Lock will lead the Slower Middle group 3 from Maindy- Newport Flats- Nash- Whitson- Undy- Caldicot- Chepstow- St Arvans- Tintern- Llandogo- Whitebrook- Caer Llan- Mitchell Troy- Llangovan- Usk- Llantrisant- Kemeys- Christchurch- Newport- Castleton- Maindy. This ride is 85 miles and has 1 climb with a few other lumps. The group can decide where they would like to stop for coffee and this could be at Tintern, Mitchell Troy or Usk or a mixture. This will be a reasonably quick ride but the pace will be dictated by the slowest rider.
Kevin Hughes will lead the Steady group 4 from Maindy- Pontypridd- Hirwaun- Glynneath- Ysradfelte- Penderyn- Cwm Cadlan- Merthyr- Cilfynydd- Taffs Well- Maindy. This ride is 85 miles and has several lumps. There will be coffee stops at Glynneath and Cwm Cadlan. This will be a steady paced ride dictated by the speed of the slowest rider.
Peter Marks will lead a Steady group 5 from Maindy- Pentrebane- Hensol- Pontyclun- Pencoed- Ewenny- St Donats- Barry- Maindy. This ride is 55 miles and is mainly rolling. There will be a coffee stop at Ewenny. This will be a steady paced ride dictated by the speed of the slowest rider.

‘Fairly quick ride’ is putting it mildly. The last two weeks have been savage! Good long rides and scenic routes, though. Thank you, ride leaders.
